The monthly paddle trip during the new moon nights are now legendary. These fun events are bringing in lots of people to experience Fajardo's Bio Bay in the coolest way possible...a Stand Up Paddleboard.  Its common to have over 30 people show up at Velauno for the scheduled 8:00 pm departure. This trip's official photographer was Heather Baus and she got everybody smiling and posing. She even wrote the story and here it is....

We didn't end up leaving SJU until almost 9pm!  Fun and lively group.  I think the best part was the paddle through the mangroves in pitch blackness to get to the bay.  It's most popular on new moon nights and so it was like a traffic jam at times with the tourist on kayaks.

There was a 5 or 6 kt current rippin through as well.. thank goodness by the time we came back it had settled itself down.  We were the last one's out of the bay and I was volunteered to  lead the way out... personally I'm surprised we didn't raft up in the mangroves and sleep on the boards all night with my navigational talents! haha  Although, our group was pretty talented at rafting up in the bay and not without a pitcher of Sangria!

Gotta love it.
